The Penn State Problem Part 2
I said last week that James Franklin was useless vs good teams. I was too nice. He’s useless vs bad teams too! Calling UCLA a “bad team” might be an understatement, these guys are awful. 0-4, with an interim head coach. They hadn’t even led a game in weeks 1-4! Well, they didn’t even trail vs Penn State. Embarrassing. That word really sums up this entire game for the Nittany Lions. Genuinely how did this happen. Drew Allar wasn’t even that bad! Well, James Franklin has all the answers for us! In his postgame presser, he said “We did not handle last week’s loss well”. Well James, losing to top teams isn’t exactly unusual to you guys, so I don’t see why Oregon hit you guys so hard. He also blamed travel. Hey Coach! Do you know who else traveled far? Oregon! Hey, remember that interim coach I mentioned earlier? He’s now tied with Franklin in wins vs top 10 Big 10 teams.
Horns Down
The season that started with National Championship predictions has gone off the rails FAST. This rough start to the year has been highlighted by Arch Manning’s struggles. He was awful in week 1, but that’s Ohio State so he got a pass, but only putting up 119 passing yards vs UTEP? You can’t put all the blame on him, but those 2 costly picks vs Florida shouldn’t get him any defenders. Preseason #1 Texas, #2 Penn State, and #4 Clemson are now 8-7 combined to the glee of preseason poll haters.
Temple is back?
The Owls are 3-2, and with their weak AAC schedule, they could contend for a bowl game spot. Evan Simon has been incredible with 12 touchdowns to 0 interceptions. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for a program that has been abysmal since Matt Rhule left for the NFL.
