This Sunday at 3:00 PM EST, the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Washington Commanders for the chance to advance to Super Bowl 59.
The Eagles have played Washington two times so far this season. In week 11, they won 26-18 but fell 36-33 in week 16, after quarterback Jalen Hurts was concussed in the first half of the game.
The main concern for the Eagles is the Commanders rookie quarterback, Jayden Daniels. In week 16, Daniels passed for 258 yards and 5 touchdowns against the Eagles. Vic Fangio’s defense can not allow that again. The second concern for the Eagles is the passing offense. AJ Brown has been relatively quiet so far this playoffs. He has only recorded 3 receptions for 24 yards over the last 2 games. However, AJ performed well against Washington in the regular season, with 13 receptions, 162 yards, and a touchdown. I’m confident that he will bounce back.
In contrast, Saquon Barkley has been the most consistent force for the Eagles this postseason. Saquon had an iconic season, where he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 15 touchdowns. Last Sunday, Saquon dominated in the divisional round last week against the Rams. Saquon led the Eagles to victory with 232 yards including 2 monstrous touchdowns. If you didn’t think his 62 yard rushing touchdown was impressive in the 1st quarter, he followed it up with an incredible 78 yard rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter dashing through the snow.
Prediction
34-28 Eagles. The Eagles have played well against Washington this season and will continue to do so this Sunday. Due to the fact that Commanders defensive coordinator, Joe Whitt Jr., will likely be focused on containing Saquon Barkley, there will be more open space for AJ Brown to run routes and score.
