Apple has been constantly promoting their products, but the question is: do they live up to what is expected of them? As of recently, these products have not been up to consumer standards. They are expensive and unable to keep up with competitors along with being impractical and malfunctioning, which is a safety concern no one should have to deal with in their everyday lives.
On September 22 of this year, Apple came out with the new iPhone 15. The only problem is, it is a carbon copy of the iPhone 14 that came out around the same time last year. Throughout the years, Apple has continuously come out with a new line of products annually in September. The products are practically the same with a few slight feature differences. Then, after doing minimal work, Apple marks the price at a 13% increase and makes it appear like a brand-new remake. This toxic cycle needs to be broken. We are feeding into Apple’s ideas by buying their products and letting them continue to believe that a slight change and markup in price is the most honorable thing to do.
Apple was originally created to make technology easier for the average person. Now, they have changed things causing their products to be more difficult to use. Apple removed our access from the old headphone port. Now, new headphones have to be plugged into the charging port which prevents people from enjoying music and a charged phone simultaneously. This is to get people to buy AirPods, but they are expensive and can be unaffordable to buy for everyone in a family. The same thing is happening to chargers, charging blocks, and charging ports. The changes started with the new chargers and charging blocks and their new design. Due to this new charger coming with the iPhones, people were forced to buy the new block as well to charge their phones. Then, the charging ports started changing and this caused people to buy the new chargers because there would be no point in even buying the phone if you could not use it. The new Apple products are becoming impractical because of these small inconveniences.
Not only has Apple been recycling the design of iPhones, they aren’t even making them up to standard. The new iPhone 15 has been getting bad reviews. While doing everyday tasks like watching a video or texting, these phones are overheating. They are burning the hand of whoever is using them.
In Summation, Apple is not as good of a company as they were under the leadership of Steve Jobs. Back then, they were an innovative technology brand that made life easier for people. Now, they sell technology products that are out of date, are ferociously overpriced, and are having technological malfunctions that are injuring people. None of these things should be happening with a multi-billion dollar company that has been around for over forty years and has made good products in the past. We should be holding Apple to a higher standard than what they have been giving us in the past couple of years.
