Staying Prepared: The Best Resources to Help With School
October 30, 2020
Although it has been stressful and chaotic, we have finally made it through the second month of school. A change in school scenery has called for some new challenges to arise. It has been difficult for many of us to adjust, myself included. With the first marking period ending soon on November 12, if you are not satisfied with your level of productivity, then hopefully this article will aid in your learning experience. Listed below are links to some free, reliable resources to help you with school! Using a few online tools can help school become much more enjoyable for you!
cK-12 (Website) https://www.ck12.org/student/
This website is a great resource for virtually all of the main courses that you are taking. From learning about government to learning physics, cK-12 has got you covered. It acts as a great tool for you to use when unsure about a certain topic at school by thoroughly explaining all the concepts. Most of the science lessons are extremely in-depth as well. By clicking the link, select the subject you want to learn about, then the topic, and you are on your way to becoming a better student!
Crash Course (Youtube) https://www.youtube.com/user/crashcourse
Crash Course is a YouTube channel whose videos focus more on critical concepts and specific details. Like cK-12, this channel’s content ranges even further, even teaching the principles of computer science, psychology, and specific history events. These videos can be pretty lengthy, with each video being about 7-15 minutes long. However, if you have more time to spare when studying, this channel is great to take a look at.
Amoeba Sisters (Youtube) https://www.youtube.com/user/AmoebaSisters
For AP Biology students, I highly recommend giving this channel’s videos a watch! Amoeba Sisters is a YouTube Channel that has videos on almost every science concept you will cover in your biology class to date. Their videos are clear and concise. Although what they talk about is rather general and will not teach you everything you need to ace next week’s test, they definitely help you get the general concepts memorized and understood. Not only that, but their videos include diagrams, analogies, and other visuals that will give you a better picture of what you’re learning.
Cymath (Website) https://www.cymath.com/
I personally find math the hardest subject because of all the formulas that you have to apply to the equations. If you’re stuck on a problem, you can type it into Cymath and it will explain how to find the solutions and the mathematical concepts that come that were used with it. As always, this website should not be used as a way to do your homework for you, as it does not help you learn anything.
Khan Academy (Website) https://www.khanacademy.org/
For the past three years, I owe most of my success in my math class to Khan Academy. Although it requires you to sign up, the process is completely free and takes less than five minutes. I find this website extremely useful when learning the formulas and how to solve different types of equations. Khan Academy does its best to prepare you for math tests by supplying teaching videos and practice assessments and explanations for if you get a question wrong. It also provides a step by step learning process for solving different equations.
Even though online school and learning in a different environment is a rather bitter experience, it is something that we will all better adjust to as time goes on. For now, we can try our best to create the best school experience for ourselves by keeping a level mind and using the resources I have given to help ease the frustration of schoolwork.
