A local bakery has gained national recognition for its political cookie poll for the upcoming presidential election. Lochel’s Bakery, a family-owned bakery located in Hatboro, initiated the cookie poll approximately six weeks ago. This is extremely fitting, since Pennsylvania is a swing state, and a large sum of electoral votes are at stake. They offer respectively red “Trump 2020” cookies, and blue “Biden 2020” cookies. However, this is not Lochel’s first time initiating a poll for the presidential election. The cookie poll has accurately predicted the outcome of the past three presidential elections. Currently, President Donald Trump has a three-to-one lead. As of October 17,  supporters of President Trump have purchased 5,169 cookies, while Biden supporters have purchased 1,833 cookies. Cookies are $4.49 for one and $75.00 for a dozen, including shipping. The owner, Kathleen Lochel is not taking a stance or endorsing either candidate. She said she would be delighted and honored to meet anyone from the Biden or Trump campaign. In fact, on October 16, first son, Eric Trump stopped by Lochel’s Bakery. Although this election is extremely heated and political debates tend to be extremely vehement, the “cookie poll” is all in good fun, and almost everyone can support a delicious cookie. However, if you are eligible, do not forget to vote on November 3!
