The highly-distinguished and respected schools in Abington were mentioned as an advantage, with seven out of nine schools in Abington School District receiving Pennsylvania’s Blue Ribbon award. Moreover, the number of major employers in the Abington area helped Abington make its way to the top of the rankings. The commute to downtown Philadelphia, which is just a brief 12 miles, was definitely a plus. Furthermore, the accessibility to housing in Abington was commended. The median price for a home in Abington is $292,000, compared to the national average of $320,000. On the same note, approximately three-quarters of all Abington residents own a home.
