The Athletic Department is extremely excited to announce that our Excellence in Athletics Recognition for the month of December will go to Maya Johnson. Maya has shown outstanding performance, dedication, and achievement on our Girls Basketball team. On December 20th, Maya became the All-Time Assists leader in Abington Girls Basketball when she dished out her 341st assist. She has demonstrated continuous excellence and maintained a high level of performance over the month. Maya contributes positively to the team’s success by complimenting her teammates about their work habits, attitudes, and contributions off the court. From Maya, about her outstanding accomplishment, “that’s exactly what I wanted to do. I did not want to change my game. I knew that I had people around me that as long as I got the ball to the right people in the right places, they would make it.” Coach Allison Lawson also complimented Maya on her historic accomplishment, “She’s the floor general, She’s the leader. She makes it a point to let everyone know where they need to be on the court. She’s like the coach on the court.” Maya’s leadership on and off the court is paramount, and will continue to make her one of, well for now, the best to ever ASSIST.
