Throughout history, complex civilizations have dominated their respective regions. One of these civilizations is the Egyptians. They were known for a lot of different reasons, whether it be hieroglyphs, canals, or their mighty pharaohs. However, today we’ll be focusing on one of the Egyptians’ most impressive feats: the pyramids.
The pyramids of Egypt have been a tourist attraction for hundreds of years. People would come all the way from frigid Canada just to marvel at the sheer size of Egypt’s pyramids. These large structures have attracted not only tourists but also myths. In recent years, people have begun to question how the Egyptians built the pyramids. Instead of thinking about pulley systems, immense manpower, and Egypt’s brightest thinkers, conspiracy theorists assume that aliens must have made this astonishing architecture. Aliens have fascinated a growing number of people as years go by, and some people truly believe that they’ve visited Earth. Whether it be UFO sightings or mummified aliens, It is continuously suggested that aliens have made it to Earth. However, when you start to give aliens credit for feats done by others, you’ve crossed the line.
Unlike the Egyptians, Ancient Greeks were never questioned for their great achievements. People don’t resort to crediting the success of Ancient Greeks to aliens. Is it that they assume the Egyptians weren’t capable of building the pyramids themselves?
The reason why so many people believe aliens could have built the pyramids is mainly because they were taught that African countries were heavily underdeveloped. This leads people to think, “How could such an underdeveloped country have ancestors so brilliant?” The answer is that African countries aren’t underdeveloped. It’s a false assumption many make. They see Western civilizations as more advanced than African civilizations, and project this by denying them the credit to their own architecture. Many of those who believe aliens built the pyramids don’t know how heavily they underestimate ancient African civilizations. If Rome could build the Roman collection without skepticism, then why can’t the Egyptians do the same with pyramids? So before you outline conspiracy theories, think about what possible damage you’re doing by promoting the idea that Western culture was more advanced than their African counterpart.
