How Does Changing Your Diet Affect Your Mood?

Have you ever felt horrible for what seems like no reason? It could be a lack of sleep. However, if you feel tired and depressed day to day, with it even getting worse later in the day, your diet could be the main culprit. Believe it or not, changing your diet can affect one’s mood greatly. Living off of caffeinated beverages and quick meals can increase your alertness but may decrease your actual functionality and well-being. In this article, I will be talking about certain foods that if eaten on a daily basis, will increase your mood and productivity greatly. 

 

Quinoa

While not used as much as rice, Quinoa has numerous benefits to your overall health and mood when consumed as a side. Quinoa has been said to have antidepressant effects. It is also largely packed with protein, which helps upkeep your body. Quinoa’s grains have been known to be great for making gluten-free alternative pasta for anyone who might have celiac. 

 

Salmon 

Salmon is packed with Omega 3 fatty acids that are able to increase mood. While salmon is largely less consumed than other meats, its health benefits are greatly better than some of the other more popular meats. 

 

Probiotics

Probiotics are healthy bacteria that live in our gut. Not only does this bacteria stimulate healthy digestion, but it also has a calming effect on consumers to greatly help the mood of consumers. Probiotics can be found in numerous food items. You can consume them through supplements, yogurts, and other fermented dairy products. 

 

Vitamin B6

When looking at the label of ingredients in energy drinks, you might have noticed that vitamin B6 is one of the most frequently used vitamins in energy drinks. That is because vitamin B6 has an energizing effect on consumers. When consuming the vitamin, it energizes you and often increases your mood. Vitamin B6 is often found in vegetables, seafood, and poultry. 

 

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is known for playing a big role in supporting the immune system. However, did you also know that it plays a role in your mood? Your immune system and your brain are connected in a lot of ways. So in addition to your immune system being strengthened by vitamin C, your productivity increases, and your mood is improved. Vitamin C is found in most fruits in supermarkets.
