Wednesday Review

Netflix has taken the streaming industry by storm. They are constantly coming out with popular shows, introducing new actors and actresses, and even rebooting some of the most popular shows of the ages.

If you have Netflix, you most likely have watched Wednesday. Wednesday circles around the iconic daughter in the Addams family. The show begins as Wednesday (played by Jenna Ortega) enrolls in Nevermore Academy, a school designed for outcasts. The audience joins Wednesday as she attempts to master her newfound psychic abilities, solve a few murder mysteries, and learns how to see gray in a world of black and white.

I, like many people, fell in love with Wednesday by the end of the first episode. She is unique in a way that she doesn’t care what other people say or think about her. At first, it’s hard to connect with her due to her lack of emotions and weaknesses. From just a glance, she seems like a cold teenage girl who cares about nothing. As I progressed through the show however, I started to notice the little things that would make Wednesday Addams happy, angry, annoyed, and even weak. She was shown to have feelings and to care for the people closest to her, even if it seems unlikely. Wednesday’s determination and powerful demeanor is one of the reasons why this show is so addictive.

Of course, you can’t have a teen Netflix show without adding in a love triangle. While I won’t reveal too much, I will reveal I’m a Tyler fan. Enough said.

If you love Tim Burton movies, the show Wednesday definitely fuels your hunger for the eerie, creepy vibes Burton is most famous for. Wednesday is also a fairly short and easy show to get through, so if you want to binge a series quickly, I definitely suggest watching Wednesday. It’s one of my absolute favorite watches of the year.
