What Has Changed Since the Last Time the Phillies Were in The World Series ?

The Philidelphia Phillies recently won the NLCS against the San Diago Padres, clinching the series 4-1. They will be playing in the World Series against the Houston Astros. The last time the Phillies made it to the world series was 2009, when they beat the LA Dodgers in the NCLS. The Phillies ultimately lost the 2009 World Series to the New York Yankees. While this was going on in 2009— what were the current trends and what has changed since then?
Fashion
An obvious change since the late 2000s would be fashion. Surprisingly some trends have already cycled back, such as low-rise flared jeans, mini skirts, yoga pants, and cropped shirts. Besides those, a lot has shifted. Things like side parts and side bangs are now considered out of fashion. In the time between then and now, skinny jeans managed to become the norm in the mid-2010s, and then completely go out of fashion.
Music
In 2009, the top three most played songs according to the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay were “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me” both by Taylor Swift, and “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. Those three songs all had over 2 million listeners. Taylor Swift had two hit songs in 2009, and now in the past week has put out a new album. Her new songs “Anti-hero” and “Karma” are already climbing their way to the top of the charts. In 2022, some of the most popular songs listed are “As it was” by Harry Styles, “Bad Habit” by Steve Lacy, and “I’m Good (Blue)” by David Guetta & Bebe Rexa. Although the song titles are different, the modern pop music style is consistent.
Technology
Apple’s iPhone was just taking off in 2009. The most common one was the iPhone 3GS, which was released in July 2008. In contrast to the present, The Apple iPhone 14 was released on September 16, 2022. An impressive new feature on the iPhone 3GS was the three-megapixel still camera. The iPhone 14 has a 48-megapixel main camera, along with ulta-wide and telephoto lenses.
Television
Most high school students today were toddlers in 2009. Children in 2009 were watching shows like Veggie Tales and Wonder Pets. In 2022 the most popular children’s programs on are Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Bubble Guppies, and Bluey.
The trends and technology have changed a lot between 2022 and 2009, but the Phillies going to the world series has stayed the same. Let’s go, Phillies!
