Harry’s House Album Review

Ava Maxwell, Sports Editor

After a long-awaited two and a half years, Harry Styles released his third studio album on May 20, 2022. Consisting of a 13-song tracklist and 42-minute duration, Harry’s House has been awarded the highest ranking debut and is currently the highest ranking album on Billboard’s Top Album Sales. Even if you haven’t listened to the whole album yet, I’m sure you’ve at least heard Harry Styles’ single, “As It Was.” “As It Was” has been sitting at the number one position on Billboard’s Global 200 for eight weeks straight ever since it was released on March 31. Personally, I’ve been listening to Harry’s House on repeat for the past few weeks, and I love the entire album!

To start off the review, I will be talking about the order of the tracklist and my original predictions for the album. When Harry Styles first posted the tracklist for Harry’s House, I was so excited, and I was trying to predict what the vibe for each song would be. I already knew what “Late Night Talking” and “Boyfriends” sounded like because Harry performed them on stage at Coachella. When I first heard “Late Night Talking,” I instantly knew it would be my favorite song on the album, and following the release of Harry’s House, my instinct remains true. I thought that songs like “Little Freak” and “Grapejuice” would be more upbeat, but regardless of their tempo, I still enjoy listening to both songs. When Harry’s House was released, I listened to the album all the way through in the original order. “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” and “Cinema” really surprised me because I didn’t really know what to expect lyric-wise. I was also shocked by the transition from “Matilda” to “Cinema” because “Matilda” is a slower song and almost made me cry when I first listened to it. Another thing that shocked me was the intro and outro to “Love of My Life.” “Love of My Life” is the last song on Harry’s House, and when it started, I instantly recognized the instrumentals. I realized that they were the same instrumentals from Harry’s teaser video for the album, and when “Love of My Life” ended, I was so excited that the same instrumentals were still included in the album. I really like how the new Harry Styles “era” started and ended the same way. Overall, I think the order of the tracklist for Harry’s House is perfect, and I wouldn’t want to listen to it any other way.

Harry’s House took me on an emotional rollercoaster when I first listened to it, but I love the vibes and energy that it gives off. I think the album has a great feel to it because it reminds me of waking up in the morning and getting to start your day off with your significant other. I find that the more upbeat songs on the album like “Music for a Sushi Restaurant,” “Late Night Talking,” and “As It Was” really help me get into a good mood, and I love dancing around to them. I think Harry’s House really does start a new era for Harry Styles because he is generally known for more upbeat and pop-rock songs. However, this album shows that Harry can explore different styles of music and still make great music. I also love the album cover because I think it really matches the songs and the individual feelings they hold.

Overall, I really love Harry’s House and if I were asked what album from Harry Styles is my favorite, I wouldn’t be able to choose. My top three favorite songs on this album are definitely “Music for a Sushi Restaurant,” “Late Night Talking,” and “Satellite.” Out of a 5-star rating, I would give Harry’s House a 5. I think Harry’s House deserves a perfect rating because there aren’t any songs that I would skip, and I find that the tracklist is in the perfect order. After reading this article, I hope you have been persuaded to listen to Harry’s House if you haven’t already!
